My Horse Bucks
If there is no medical or mal-functioning equipment reason for bucking, somewhere along the line, whether by its previous owners or by you, yourself, your horse has learned that bucking is an acceptable outlet.
Bucking is an outlet for aggression. That aggression may be due to pain, in which case you should check your tack and/or have him evaluated by your veterinarian. Aggression may be due to fear or it may be an expression of dominance. A horse that is fearful or dominant may express that fear or dominance in more subtle ways that have been overlooked. You’ve only seen the buck.
To help you understand this I will paraphrase a Russian Folklore:
There is a peasant with only 4 Rubles left to spend. He is very hungry so he buys a roll. He eats the roll but is still hungry; he spends his second Ruble and buys another roll, still hungry. He spends his third Ruble on another roll and is still hungry. With his last Ruble, he buys a pretzel, eats it and is no longer hungry. He says to himself, I should have bought the pretzel first and I would still have three Rubles left and not be hungry!
How many of you feel that the answer to your horse’s bucking is the pretzel?
In most cases curing your bucking problem has nothing to do with what’s going on in the saddle. Trying to fix it from the saddle is only putting a band aide on the symptom rather than curing the problem.
Falisi Horsemanship is not going to address the pretzel; you don’t have to ride the buck out of your horse. We are going to teach you how to extinguish this behavior before you ever even get on your horse. To fix a bucking horse you don’t have to be a good rider, just a knowledgeable horseperson.
Opinion is ultimately determined by the feelings, and not by
the intellect.
