Colt Starting

Unless he has been left untouched, by the time your young horse is ready to ride, he has already been started. Unfortunately, if he has not been left untouched, many times, poor handling prior to backing, has created a problem horse unbeknownst to the handler. In this school, we attempt to address these pre-backing problems as well as the backing itself. Horses who have minimal to no handling, or good handling as measured by our System, make starting under saddle a pretty uneventful school for both parties involved!!!!!! That’s the way it should be. The less holes left here, combined with the proper approach to backing, means that the only problems you will encounter with future training are physical limitations and mental maturity, behavioral problems will not be an issue. Upon completion of this school you will, at least, be able to ride your horse forward at the walk, possibly the trot, change directions, stop and back up. Two five day sessions.
