The Falisi Horsemanship Bit
Let’s get this out of the way first – all bits can cause pain to some degree or another. How much pain – be it mild discomfort to severe bruising – depends on the severity of the bit and the severity of the riders hands.
Another myth – get a bigger bit. Our system does not rely on the bit to be the end all be all of our training. If something isn’t quite right, we don’t reach for the next bit. We use one bit on every horse here, and we’ve designed it to be the most mild one. Check your tack room, how many different bits have you purchased trying to find the answer to all your problems?
Ross Falisi designed the Falisi Horsemanship Bit to be as mild as possible. It is up to you to train your hands to do the same. The bit is a snaffle designed so that pressure is distributed over a greater surface area, there is no pinching in the corner of the mouth and the amount of pressure that can be exerted on the palate, the tongue and the bars of the mouth is limited.
The answer doesn’t lie in a more severe bit, the answer lies in improved horsemanship. So, be fair to your horse and use a mild bit. Train yourself to be a better horseman who relies on a deeper connection with his horse to make things happen.
