Trailer Loading

Maybe your horse will get in the trailer today………or maybe he won’t. Maybe he never gets in the trailer so you can’t go anywhere, you’re trapped on your farm, in avoidance. You’ve tried the food bribe, the rope around his butt, the rope through the window, etc. etc. etc. If you do get him on, hurry up and close the door before he comes out!!!!!

This scenario is very common and there are many popular techniques that attempt to address this problem. Good or bad technique, none of them are going to work consistently until you realize the secret. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TRAILER!!!!

Guess who’s got the problem. Somewhere along the horsemanship road, you have failed your horse. Ouch, that hurts.

"Knowledge is essential; the wisdom one gains from the proper application of that knowledge is priceless."

Dawn Falisi, P.T.

First, YOU must change the way you think about yourself. Then, YOU must change the way you think about your horse. Then, and only then, will you be on the road to horsemanship. And there is only one road, don’t put yourself on a detour to nowhere.

When you can teach your horse to have confidence, he’ll practically load himself on the trailer. Squeezing him between you and the trailer or teaching him to run onto the trailer just teaches him avoidance. Steer clear.
